About SportsAbilities

SportsAbilities was originally established as the Handcycling Club of Colorado in 2006 in order to organize fun bike rides in the greater Denver area.  We very quickly had an email list of over 50 participants and were scheduling weekly rides and promoting handcycling events all over the state.  As the organizers got more active in disabled sports, the Handcycling Club started promoting more activities such as Tennis, Rugby, Waterskiing, Softball, Skiing, and fundraising events.  The group had grown to a couple hundred participants and was known all over the state as one of the best ways to promote disabled events.

The organizers spent much of their time volunteering with local organizations and speaking at hospitals about the importance of leading an active and healthy lifestyle.  We made it our mission to find suitable opportunities for disabled individuals to get out of the house and recreate in a fun and safe manner.

In 2010, we discovered that many of the new injuries that we talked to had a very difficult time finding events in other states and we were constantly trying to find organizations to help them get busy.  After much discussion, we decided to compile a list of all of these organizations and post their calendars all in one location.  This is when we started constructing sportsabilities.com.

Currently, Sports Abilities has about 200 different calendars.  We have 50 state calendars, 27 activity specific national calendars, and almost 60 organization specific calendars.  We have over 600 different organizations listed on our resources page.  We offer non-profit organizations free access to post events on our calendars and we promote them nation-wide.  We do not have a subscription fee or charge people to access our information.  We truly hope that by having a single site for people to visit, we can help promote the great activities that are happening all over the country and help support all the organizations that are hosting them.

Please let us know if there is an organization that we do not have represented or an event that you would like to have posted and promoted.  Also, drop us an email if there is another way that we can improve the site to make it more user friendly and helpful.

Thank you so much,
